How Sudanese Immigrants Can Achieve Permanent Residency in Canada

Starting February 27, IRCC will accept up to 3,250 applications from individual applicants or families affected by continued conflict in Sudan. Individuals who receive permanent residence through this pathway will be exempt from the right of permanent residence fee and enjoy free settlement services.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this pathway, applicants must have been living in Sudan on April 15th, 2023: this is when fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) broke out and displaced several thousand civilians. Applicants must not have another country to return to other than Sudan or Canada and must be the child (of any age), grandchild, sibling, parent or grandparent of an eligible anchor.

An anchor is an extended family member who agrees to financially support you or your family during the first year in Canada. An anchor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, 18 years of age or older, living in Canada (except Quebec) and demonstrate proof of income or funds to meet the financial requirements of supporting the applicants.
Applicants must include a statutory declaration from their anchor stating that they plan to support you and any family members accompanying you for one year. Individuals may also apply if their spouse or common-law partner is missing, presumed dead, deceased, or cannot leave Sudan or their spouse or common-law partner is the child (of any age), grandchild, sibling, parent or grandparent of an eligible anchor willing to support you.

Individuals must apply through the PR Portal. All necessary documents and forms, including those from the anchor, must be submitted here.
